Easy Dessert Shortcuts
As seasoned hosts know, one secret to a great dinner party is shortcuts. And when it comes to dessert, all it takes is a generous pour of melted Lindt Excellence chocolate to take the final course from so-so to spectacular. Whether it’s a pecan pie from your favourite bakery, profiteroles from the freezer or fudgy brownies from the grocery store, melted dark chocolate makes everything better!
If you have more time on your hands, you can always top your treats with chocolate shards, chocolate icing or chocolate shapes but really, what’s easier than drizzling pure Lindt Excellence dark chocolate over the top? Here’s how:
- If you’re working on a stovetop, start by boiling a few inches of water in a saucepan. Once boiling, take the pot off the heat and place a dry bowl with the chopped chocolate onto the saucepan, ensuring it fits tightly and doesn’t allow any steam to escape, which can alter the texture of the chocolate. The remaining heat in the water will easily and gently melt around 200g (2 bars) of your favourite Lindt Excellence dark chocolate—we used Lindt Excellence 78% Cacao Dark Chocolate. Stir frequently and allow the chocolate to melt gently.
- You can also melt chocolate in the microwave as long as you are mindful and use a low and slow approach with short spurts of time. Also, be sure that the dish you are using doesn’t hold too much heat (a bowl made of glass rather than thick porcelain, for example), which can result in burnt chocolate.
- Pour the melted chocolate over the top, either on each individual serving or over the entire dessert.
- Serve and enjoy!
